When I lived in the Bay Area, I was a slave to the oh-so-brief joys of Pink Pearl apples, grown by a select few local orchards. Not to be confused with the widely available Pink Ladies, these apples had a season of about 3 minutes, but they were divine. They were crisp and beautifully tart, but their real charm was in their coloring--pale pink-ivory on the outside, then vividly streaked with bubble-gum pink inside. Now I live in New York, home of many apple orchards, but I haven't seen these apples anywhere. Does anyone grown them out here, and if so, how could I find them? thanks!
