Just returned from a late dinner at Pimaan Thai in Emerson. I haven't eaten Thai since Bombay in Hackensack at least five years ago, so I may be delighted simply in the novelty. This, however, seemed very good and very reasonable -- $100 w/tip. Five people had the following: appetizers including steamed dumplings, spicy duck salad, Thai salad, perfect fried calamari with sweet and sour sauce; entrees of spicy fried rice, red curry with chicken (heat up front), jungle curry (heat lagged and hit later), one entree I can't recall; desserts of fried ice cream, sticky rice and mango, fried banana w/ honey and sesame, and creme brulee (odd), and Thai iced teas. Everybody tasted everyone else's dishes; all concurred that things were very good. Pimaan does not seem to serve liquor, so I guess it's bring your own.

Everything was extremely fresh. The mango was perfect.
Presentation was lovely. Setting is a small dining room with ample space, decent linens, fresh flowers on the tables, not quite appropriate to our after-golf-haven't-changed attire.

I don't know if the excellent service had anything to do with the fact that one of our party is the previous owner of the restaurant space; however, she made no special attempt to be recognized. The owner did realize she was there after we had ordered. I would go back to this place in a minute.

79 Kinderkamack Rd.
