Piling on "Snack"

May I be the tenth or so to recommend "Snack." It may look like a hipster diner and it may be located on Thompson Street, but the taste is the thing. Whoever is in the kitchen has soul. I loved a special served Friday, a Cretan bread salad that included lettuce, bulgar rusks, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, basil and other herbs, a few lovely chunks of yellowfin tuna, and tons of lemon. The beet salad (over arugala) was good but couldn't compete.

The regular menu may appear standard-issue, but the specials were all tempting, and judging by the happy faces of fellow diners, the standbys were deftly executed.

The service was great and the prices a fantastic bargain.
