My company is having our annual holiday party in Chicago this year (last year was in Toronto). We will be about 28 people (14 employees + spouses/partners). We live all over the country, so this is our one opportunity each year to get together and celebrate what we've accomplished. We all love food and wine and our parties are no-holds-barred eating and drinking revels. Our party last year was at Perigee in Toronto and it was absolutely incredible. We would like a similar experience here in Chicago. I think Alinea and Moto are going to be too avant garde for a few of the folks in the company. So here's my list so far:
My requirements are: incredible food, excellent wine list, excellent scotch list, great service (but not stuffy/snooty), great atmosphere (but not stuffy/formal). A restaurant that has a great private room is critical. The ideal is a restaurant small enough to shut down for just our party (which is what we had in Toronto). Budget is not an issue.
Thoughts on the list above, chowhounds? Any other places we should be considering?
