When I heard there is a new Vietnamese restaurant in Peabody (mere miles from my house!) I HAD to try it!
136 Newbury st rte 1 south (a few plazas beyond Aroma there is a big gulf station in the parking lot).
The place looks like most little vietnamese places clean and neat w/ a small bar. The staff was very attentive and the food was fast.
We had assorted grilled seafood/fish balls to start served w/ hoisin sauce. I had vermicelli w/ pork chop and spring roll. Which I thought was pretty good (the spring rolls were the real kind w/ meat and taro like my MIL makes my fav instead of all veggie). My husband had vietnamese beef stew which he said wasn't that great. He said it tasted sweet and didn't have the right kind of noodles. We also had a mung bean shake and a Dac Biet (coconut, jelly and bean) drink. I think next time we will try the pho and the clay pot dishes.
I thought it was good except I noticed a lot of dishes that you see at most viet places were not on this menu. But YEAH a vietnamese restaurant on the north shore... now everything would be complete if there was an asian bakery (or a super88/kamen center) around here.
