Pho Y (san jose)

michiyo | Sep 16, 200303:26 AM

the only time i finish the soup in noodle dishes is when my mom makes udon. otherwise, there is ALWAYS a bowl full of soup left over whenever i order soup noodles, esp pho. i LOVE pho, so i put up with the mediocre places in west l.a. but after pho y i may not be able to go back. i was in san jose this weekend and remembered thi's post on the lack of good pho in l.a. and recalled his mention of pho y in san jose. i was a bit disappointed they didn't serve fresh spring rolls (or anything other than pho for that matter) but my disappointment quickly went away with my first spoonful of soup - it was divine. very clear as thi described it, and definitely did not require the enormous amounts of sriracha and hoisun sauce i normally add (just a lil' sriracha - i like my pho spicy). for the first time ever, i finished my pho - slurped up every drop. thanks thi~
