Philly Phoodie Houston Report

With input from Chowhound, we grazed through the Houston area this past weekend.

Tampico Seafood & Cocina Mexicana 2115 Airline Dr
Grilled snapper with shrimp and crab legs was amazing. – Best meal for the price we may have ever had – worth helping cab to find – most people in Houston we talked to did not even know it exists – thanks so much Chowhound

Original New Orleans Po-Boy 3902 Main St
Period atmosphere, very interesting – pancakes and sausage unremarkable but very inexpensive

Goode & Co. 5109 Kirby Dr.
Great brisket and sauce plus pecan pie – Eating outside on a nice day – How can you go wrong

Churrascos River Oaks 2055 Westheimer
Plantain chips with (3) sauces, Churrasco steak served with chimichurri sauce (tender and tasty), and a very good Australian Shiraz made for a wonderful evening – try the bread pudding, even better than the very good tres leches

Breakfast Klub 3711 Travis
I haven’t waited in line for 30 minutes for breakfast before – the wings and waffles was certainly worth the wait – there is a reason for the crowds - a real find

Mama Ninfa's 2704 Navigation Blvd
Quiet late afternoon lunch – fajitas, enchiladas, margaritas, great service – my definition of how Mexican food should be

Zula’s 705 Main St.
Trendy décor with very good food and service – plus only one block from Magnolia Hotel – Lobster and Eggs Benedict was a new variation of a classic that I loved – Atlantic salmon – Shepherds Pie for dessert (Belgian chocolate with caramel) plus another good bread pudding

We enjoyed the Fine Arts Museum, The Livestock Show, and a drive out to The Forbidden Gardens, but we were not impressed with downtown Houston, but due to the assistance from Chowhound members, we had a great getaway weekend, dining does not get much better than this.
