I know I've mentioned this place on the board before....several times. But I went again yesterday for a birthday lunch. And I'm always reminded of what a great destination it is. We started with a caviar martini (yes....a good way to start.) They knew it was my birthday, so brought us eggs royale....which is one of my favorite things. Eggs scrambled lightly, put back into the shell and topped with caviar. We had caviar salad, which is also one of my favorites....butter lettuce with layers of creme fraiche and caviar. So delicious. Switched to a rose champagne. And then they brought me a complimentary dessert. I'm not a sweets person, so we said we'd prefer the cheese plate, but its price is more than most desserts...so we offered to pay the difference. They refused. It was such a lovely meal with terrific service and the place, while not full, had (as usual) very interesting folks for people watching. Just a reminder that if you're looking for a fun place for a holiday celebratory meal, you might consider Petrossian. (and you can pick up some fabulous items from the counters on the way out!)
