A friend and I went to early dinner at Petit Trois last night. From the cocktail menu she got the Gainsbourg and then the Bardot. The Gainsbourg was really fantastic, and the pastis gave it a very refined black licorice taste. I had a glass of rose and a glass of red.
For food we shared the appetizer that's in every restaurant these days, the good bread and chevre with english peas and mint. I know this sounds simple and it is, the ingredients were fantastic and I'm happy I got it. We also shared the green bean salad (with almonds, peaches, apples, and creme fraiche). This was also excellent, the almonds were just perfect in it.
For mains she got the petit mec (cheeseburger), and I got the confit-fried chicken leg. Her burger was good, they didn't ask how she wanted it prepared (just occurred to me now). We both liked it, but felt it was too sweet for our preferences. My confit-fried chicken leg was perfect, and when I took my first bite I remembered why I like hot, crispy, salty food.
Friend and I shared the Floating Island dessert, and when the server put down the enormous helping in front of us, he pointed out he tried to grab the largest helping. I immediately thanked him for doing us a solid, which ha ha ha, ho ho ho, I love making corny jokes I do I do.
