Pete's bbq

MMMmmmm good stuff. FINALLY made it to Pete's, well worth the trip, I was never quite sure where it was in East Boston so I never made it to their old location, but I have to say, I like where they are now. Works perfectly for a bbq/movie night :)

Three of us enjoyed our meals. I ordered a combo plate; 1/4 chicken w/pork loin ribs. Really nice smokey flavor and loved the sweet/smokey bbq sauce too. One other got the beef ribs; a small order (sampler plate) came with 3 huge ribs, more than enough for her. Very good, tender ribs. Also the jerk chicken: REALLY good, intensely flavorful and yeah, spicy. Every dish comes with a sweet potato roll (more like a muffin, with a sweet glaze on top) + you get 2 sides. I got fries (hand-cut and served piping hot in a basket, excellent); and just a simple iceburg lettuce salad, but it had a great dressing. We also got the asian slaw; really really good with crunchy bits of peanuts mixed w/peanut dressing.

Since we were going to the movies, we didn't get to try any desserts, but I have a feeling they would have been great too. Our server was very friendly and helpful; all in all a great experience. As it got later in the evening Pete and his wife were sitting down in the booth next to us, he was chatting with her while she was sculpting her carrot "flowers" that come on a garnish with each dish...

I do wish their beer selection was a little bit better; actually I'm not sure what their beer selection IS. There was no list and when I asked what they had she said "what do you want?" Never crazy about that response but I think she was just trying to tell me they had all the usual suspects, i.e Bud, Coors, Heineken, etc. Not sure though. I ended up getting a Sam Adams Light (they didn't have regular Sam), which was fine. Of course when I left I saw a Pete's Wicked neon sign in the window so I guess they had that too.

ANYWAY. Excellent food & friendly people, two of my favorite combinations. Bill was $45 for the 3 of us, which is pretty good too....
