Pequena -- Fort Greene, Brooklyn

I finally tried Pequena the small Mexican restaurant on South Portland Avenue in Fort Greene (just around the corner from Moe's bar and near the Lafayette Avenue stop on the "C" train). The portions were quite hardy -- for $12 I got 3 heaping fish tacos with rice and beans. Although the ingredients seemed to be top notch and very fresh it was lacking in spice/heat. I doctored it up with some hot sauce at home and it was okay. The black beans were utterly bland. All in all not a bad place if you can get them to give the food a bit of "kick". It's a tiny place with some outdoor seats and a full liquor license.
