Penguin Pizza.....bad news

adp0 | Mar 13, 2006 12:03 PM

Had a very disappointing meal at Penguin Pizza on South Huntington Ave last night. Hubby and I have been there once before and had a decent pie, so we returned last night. Our waitress was unbelievably distracted, by what it's hard to say. There were only two other tables with customers when we came in. It took 15 minutes to get our soup (tomato basil, very watery) and caesar salad (bottled dressing, white bread unseasoned croutons, but at least the lettuce was fresh). We ordered a half and half pizza......but they forgot one half and just made the whole pie with the ingredients requested on one half. Ok, no big deal. We certainly didn't want to wait for a new pizza.

Then hubby takes three bites that tasted definitely off. In the 20 years I've known this man, he's never left pizza slices behind in a restaurant, and has never tipped only 10%. He did both last night, and I couldn't blame him.

I did three searches to remind myself of previous posts about Penguin. Nothing came up, but my memory is that they were relatively positive. Maybe this was just an off-Sunday night, but just wanted to share our experience.
