The Peasant and the Pear

Kelly | Jun 4, 2006 11:31 AM

Last night I thought I would try the newly opened The Peasant and the Pear, boy what a treasure to find in Danville. I called and they said the reservation would be an hour to an hour and a half so I agreed to leave my name and wait. When I arrived 45minutes later they had a table waiting for us and the service was the best I had ever seen anywhere. The menu had a nice selection and I did learn later that the entrees change style every six weeks. We started off with the calamari which was excellent, then our soup de jour arrived which was split pea another can't miss. I had the pear, gorgonzola, carmelized onion and mozzarella pizza which is also a signature dish it was out of this world. My dinner mate ordered the Spanish style chicken with saffron vegetable risotto perfectly cooked. At this point our curiousity got the best of us and we had to see the dessert menu, they had the usual ice cream and the creme brulee but the waitress suggested the warm pear tart, I could not stop eating it.

Well needless to say that is my new favorite restaurant in the East Bay.
