Ok so last year I decided to buy a pair (pun intended) of pear trees. I planted them approximately 20 feet apart, and low and behold, this year one of them is bearing fruit!
So here are my pear/fruit tree question(s) (mind you I have no experience with fruit trees)
Is it a male vs. female in the fruit tree world? I was told this by someone when I planted them and had no idea if I had a male female combination. Only one of my tree's generated fruit.
When planted they were approximately 5/6 feet tall they have grown approximately 1 foot over the season. The one tree with fruit has 4 pears growing on it. Is there a late(r) blooming season or is this it?
I assume I should prune the tree(s) at the end of the season? Do I trim/prune them both or just the fruit producing tree?
Any and all other advice is greatly appreciated.
