The Ruth's Chris steak & butter thread below reminded me of something I recalled the other day.
Have you ever encountered a peanut butter sandwich that had regular butter as another layer? I'm thinking it's more common than I initially thought, but I have this vague memory of being in a Home Ec. class in which we made PB sammiches and were instructed to first spread a layer of butter, before slapping on the PB. At the time, I remember thinking it was absurd for us to be making sandwiches in class as opposed to actually cooking anything, but thought it absolutely ridiculous to also be putting regular butter on a peanut butter sandwich. I even remember taking an informal poll from other students in the vicinity of my "station", and a couple of them acknowledged that they practiced this at home too. Dumbfounded, I was. But I made the sandwich that way, and it was actually quite delicious from what I recall.
I've never done it since that time I don't think, but was wondering how many of y'all practice this?
