Hi you guys!
Made it in to PDX and 1st stop was Pho Van before stopping home. It was just great!
After unpacking/settling in no one wanted to cook dinner, so we decided to go someplace close for happy hour.
Staying near Mall 205, we decided to hit the nearest place we could find called "acupulco" (?). Being from Phoenix - and going to a mexican place - I had a few oddities I'd like to ask my fellow hounds about:
1. We were 3 souls, waiting for a 4th to join us from a long drive across town. The 3 of us decided to order a marg and some food while we waited.
2. Call from the cel showed 4th soul 2 minutes away, so we tried to order her marg but was told:
"It is against Oregon law to have more than 1 drink at any time".
Is this true? When the 4th soul showed up, they allowed the order.
3. Food we ordered was not buffet style. We ordered from a menu. We had obviously overordered by a massive amount (with no prompting/cautioning from the server), yet were told
"It is against Oregon Law to take home food from the happy hour".
Is this true? We looked at the menu and it made no mention; looked around the restaurant/bar and no signage. No where could we find this policy posted which led us to wonder if this were the case.
Our server came by 10 minutes prior to happy hour ending and asked if we'd like to order another before the prices went up. Since you could have no more than 1 at a time, we all had to suck up to order :-) When she came back, she said she didn't get the order "in in time" and the cost would be double now. We fought this and they adjusted this tiny portion, but have to tell you the drinks after the happy hour were GREAT - the happy hour drinks were just horrible.
What do you guys think? Are they taking advantage of the fact that I'm a tourist?
