A patron walks in and puts his walking cane on the bar...

I noticed he was having trouble walking when he came in, a knee problem he later divulged. So, he takes a place at the bar and puts his walking cane on the bar top the long way taking up at least 2 spaces. He could have hung it on the bar stool, or even placed it below the bar. Maybe even asked the bartender to put it somewhere nearby. The barkeep says nothing. Customers stared but said nothing.

Don't get me wrong, I do have empathy for people with physical impairments. What do you think? Is this proper behavior?
