Patric's in Naples: A Disappointment

While visiting my mom and dad in Naples I wanted to take them out for a fine meal. Patric's seemed to have good reviews so off we went. The ambience was lovely and the service attentive. We were presented with a rather uninspiring amuse bouche but it was a thoughtful gesture. The soups were exceptional (I had the lobster bisque) so things started off well. I ordered the Osso Bucco which was immediately wiped off the menu blackboard. I asked the server if my order was the last of it. He confirmed it was and also confirmed it was yesterday's. He did offer me the opportunity to change my mind, which I should have accepted. The Osso Bucco was okay but nothing exceptional. It tasted like warmed over stew. Although my dad ordered his filet mignon medium rare it arrived without a trace of pink and with cold vegetables. It was graciously taken back for another. However, he complained to me that the meat itself was odd - when he cut it, it did not slice but shredded. I had a piece and it was strange. It had an almost granular texture and turned somewhat mealy in my mouth. Rather tasteless, too. It had nothing to do with aging - it was just an odd piece of meat. My mom had the duck with dried cherry sauce. Again, although the sauce was exceptional the duck itself was rather tough. We were so disappointed that we left without coffee and dessert. Next time I'll take them to one of the 5th Avenue or 3rd Street spots.
