From other chowhounds input in the past, i chose this place during the labor day weekend jaunt to Monterey/Big Sur. Took 3 hours, what a drive.
It is quite good and definitely has interesting dishes I think:
Ordered the Monterey Albacore Tuna/pepper-fennel crusted/wasabi slaw/ginger vinaigrette. Fish is fresh and cooked to perfection with nice crust. The slaw is a nice complement, sweet with a hint of wasabi. It also comes with some type of green beans sauteed.
Also ordered the Duck thigh & leg/paprika gratin potatoes/Tasmanian leatherwood honey sauce. By this time both of us are quite stuffed. The duck has a crispy thick skin although unlike the chinese roast/peking duck. Also the pureed potatoes are prepared well. The waiter recommend this dish since it is very uniquely prepared.
We will definitely visit this place again next time around. I will try the specially prepared pork that has been cured for days, very tender says the waiter. Did not have a chance to try their fresh fish, too bad.
