Paris Trip Report, brief comments on places where we ate.

After three great days in London, took the high speed train from London to Paris, our first night was at our overall favorite Paris Bistro,
Les Papilles 30 rue Guy Lussac 75005 Paris. Les Papilles combines, excellent hearty food, warm friendly service and very good value. The night we were there we started with pumpkin chestnut soup which was silky smooth and delicious followed by a huge roasted rack of lamb, buttered polenta and veggies. Then came cheese with olive tapanade and finally a peach panna cotta, both yummy.
Washed it all down with a Morderee CdR which paired perfectly.
Owner Bertrand could not be nicer or more accommodating.

After a busy day touring Paris we made our way out to:
Jeanne A, 42 rue Jean-Pierre Timbaud 75011 Paris, looking for a classic bistro meal and got exactly that. As with all our meals in Paris, service was very warm and friendly helping out what we could not interpret :).
Wife had the “signature” rotisserie chicken, scallop potatoes and salad, I had the lamb, scallop potatoes and salad. Both were very good, the chicken is indeed good and who doesn't like scalloped potatoes. Another serving please :). Split a rice pudding for dessert and had a carafe of tasty Rhone blend with dinner.

Semilla, 54 rue de Seine 75006 Paris, (dined here two nights). Saturday night we went to Pirouette expecting a nice dinner but our hotel had fouled up the reservation date and they could not take us.
We had a reservation at Semilla for Sunday so we went there at 9:00 pm Saturday on the slim chance we could get in. The fellow behind the bar as well as the server were totally sympathetic and squeezed us in the bar area promising to get us a table. 25 minutes later a table popped up (cancellation) and we were seated. I can't say enough about how the people at Semilla treated us. We will be there whenever in Paris!

On to the food and it was every bit as good as the service. Attractive space, very brief descriptions which don't do justice to the food. First night, DW had a wonderful salad followed by delicious roast veal and polenta. I had a unusual (can't recall) but tasty squid preparation and cochon three ways that was comfort food at its best. Split a chocolate pistachio pudding for dessert, that was a nice ending to an excellent meal. Our American server (forgot her name, from Michigan) and the rest of the staff made us feel like we were dining in their home.
Had a carafe of Tempier Bandol with dinner, went down easy!

Second night saw the salad again and I had the assortment of salumi and coppa, I had the swordfish with beets and pomegranate which was plated beautifully and tasted every bit as good. Wife had the roast lobster with mushrooms. Until very recently we have lived in the NYC metro region and have had lobster prepared many ways in some fine restaurants but this lobster at Semilla was declared “the best I've had” from the wife which is no small praise.
Finished by sharing a fig and custard tart which was yum and thoroughly enjoyed a carafe of Chidaine Chenin Blanc with the dinner.
Again, our hats off to Semilla for their wonderful food and service!
