Apologies for posing this question (I've done my homework and know Paris very well - just not these neighbourhoods, as far as eating goes) ...
I need to find a restaurant for this Friday for a dinner with an older Parisian couple, whom I *thought* were bons vivants. I'd proposed the following list, culled from old favorites and want-to-try's: L'Avant-Gout, Chez Michel, Le Pré Verre, Le Comptoir du Relais or Le Pamphlet. The response came back: "Don't know these. Are any on the Champs-Elysées or the Champs de Mars?"
If I take this as an indication of their geographical presence ... can anyone help?
I don't really know anything on the C-E, and I've only been to L'Auvergne Gourmande and Le P'tit Troquet near the Eiffel Tower. Liked both, but the first is probably too casual for the Parisian couple, and I just don't feel like wasting a dinner in Paris on the second!
Or do I simply insist that we go to Chez Michel? :+)
