Paris - just came back...

We just returned from Paris recently. We grabbed lunch at different bistros and cafes everyday and enjoyed them - all good but here are the dinners:

Chez L'Ami jean - fantastic - I see why it is a steady favorite - great atmosphere and energy - I know it frequented by both Parisians and tourists alike - everyone enjoyed. We arrived at 8:30 and the place was empty but within 1/2 hour it was packed and people kept coming in and some were turned away. Our waiter was great - insisted we try new things -and surprised us with great things. The duck was amazing and delicious. It was probably our best meal all around. We stayed for a long time and enjoyed.

Frenchie - wow! we had a hard time finding it - it is on a backstreet. We called to say we would be late and they said no problem and gave us directions. Small place - very intimate - we arrived and went to the back where the chef also was the host with the reservation book! Even though there was one waiter and the place was busy - the service was good. The food was absolutely delicious - very limited menu - only 2 choices on each course - but all four of us raved about the food. My husband and I stepped out for a cigarette and the chef stepped out as well - we told him how much we enjoyed the meal - he said he was glad we found it. Turns out he answers the phone too! I made reservations 4 weeks in advance - its a great find - I really recommend booking early since there is limited seating.

Jules Verne - Not our very, very best meal - but great experience - we had a great time. The service was wonderful - we had drinks then took their exit to the viewing platform and enjoyed the amazing sunset outside - then ordered our meals. The design and decor was unique and very distinctive with a honeycomb design through out the china, ceilings and decor. At around 9pm the tower lit up and sparkled which was just special. The meal was very good but you just can't compare to the great, reasonably priced bistro. We all agreed on the elevator down that it was fantastic but we probably would not be back for a while...

Le Restaurant at Le Hotel - not very memorable - the atmosphere was pretty stuffy - other tables people were older, very proper (think older women in Chanel and black lace gloves??). Food was quite nice - but my husbands desert was not right but the waiter insisted he ordered the fig desert when we all knew he did not - my husband ended up saying fine I'll try it (he had a great adventurous food attitude the whole trip) but for a Michelin star restaurant I felt they should have fixed the problem or not charged him for the desert.

I thought it was a nice mix for out first trip to Paris - but I have a big list of others to try for the next one...enjoy...
