Just returned from two weeks in the French riviera, Provence, Dordogne and Paris. I must say that the highlight was dinner at Taillevent on our final evening. Thank you fellow chowhounds for the suggestion of this great dining experience. I found the atmosphere to be formal but not at all stuffy with very gracious staff and well...the food...superb! Not wildly imaginitive but of superb quality. The best foie gras with an intense vanilla sauce! I have dined in other restuarants where other individual courses have been more memorable, but as an overall dining experience, the Taillevent tops my list (with a wonderfully reasonable wine list also).
