Finally got to go there in company! A friend who used to go there but hadn't been in years, and my wife, who though native-born had NEVER been there. Not knowing exactly how the crowd would time itself, we got there at 1:00 and had about a 15-minute wait, then were seated in the big corner booth up front - perfect! The friend, fretting about not wanting to overeat, said the heck with it and got the legendary waffles & wings; Mrs. O just went for a stack of pancakes and a root beer (!), and I got the wings'n'eggs with grits and a biscuit, plus some coffee which I did not need but what the hey. While we waited we amused ourselves by taking pictures of the decor etcetera, and then the food arrived and we fell to. The wings were immediately rated as Sublime, I seasoned my grits and passed out samples which were accepted with rapture (our friend subsequently ordered a side of them for herself), and about then I realized that ONCE AGAIN I had neglected to take any pictures until the food was half-demolished, it was just that good...the waffle, I will say, was rated Okay, as opposed to Fab.
About eleven bucks a head, before tip. Someone at the next table got some kind of Eggs Bennie plate which I *WILL* try next time.
