I made it down to La Zamorana in Watsonville this weekend to follow-up on Carb Lovers discovery of a pambazo closer than Oakland. Since they did not serve the amazing tinga that has made pambazos a popular treat in the Bay Area, I decided Birria would be the next best thing.
Hmmmmm- well there is no way you can eat this thing with your hands. Really wet to the point where it was more of a drowned torta than the pambazo I have tried. Still, the birria was good and none of the ingredients seemed to overwhelm the others. The lack of texture from the super soft and wet roll kept it from all coming together. I think I would go with Birria tacos on a return visit.
