New paltz area eats

joeb | Aug 17, 2005 10:49 PM

I have read several posts about food in and around New Paltz. Indulge me for a few minutes.
First save your time and money, the Gilded Otter is awful! The beer can be ok but the food is overpriced, lacks imagination, and for the most part is terrible. If you want pub grub P & G’s, it does not pretended to be anything other than a beer joint that serves cheap decent, not great food. Stick to the basics, Burgers and the like, plus they make a good chili.
If you are coming to the area think about a couple of nearby choices, The French Corner in Stone Ridge, maybe fifteen minutes from town. Great Food!
Also think about the Depuy Canal House in High Falls, also good food. These are a little more fancier than places like Yanni or Anatolis, yes no French fries with every meal here.
If you are willing to go two exits north on the Thruway, New World Home Cooking in Saugerties!
Lombardi's in Gardiner for good Italian food and pizza.
