Here are some of the awards given to restos recently by food critic Thierry Daraize : Birks cafe for dessert, best meal 5e peche, best hotel resto Renoir, best lunch Dominion Square Tavern, best new bistro Duo D, best moderate price resto Station F, best new resto L'un des Sens, best BYOB Monsieur B, best for girls night out Le Limon, best for guys night out BBQ, best for group ambience Chez Victoire, best personality of the year Marie-Josee Beaudoin coowner Les 400 coups, best artisan Au Verger du Clocher, and mentions some places outside of Montreal, He talks about the current resto scene, changes in coping with economic pressures on part of owners and clientele, takes a swipe at copycat menus and lack on inspiration from restos and lack of risktaking from customers saying bistros are reigning supreme in current market situation. He notes closings are inevitable but he is encouraged by new restaurants opening..
In a a two page section Fetes pour les gourmands today he has some recommendations about shops to purchase some special foods over holidays (2 cheese stores, pastry stores, a chocolate shop, marche adonis), he also talks about some specific menus in restos over the holiday period & costs--
mentions that Bistro Cocagne has takeout dishes to make your life simpler including tourtieres (deer, turkey, pork 13$ each) which i mention as i believe someone was looking for that in earlier post.
You will probably be able to check out the articles next week as it takes a week for them to be put up online in archives
For 2010 palmeres, check next week.....

here is the list he did for 2009, but i see some of people have moved on to other places...
