More Palm Springs lunch dives

Had a terrific lunch at the French dives in the Smoke Tree shopping center: Hedi's is a Moroccean/Tunisian spot with good French food, reasonable prices and charming outdoor seating. Lentil soup was tops as was the moussaka served with a mixed salad - like the Tunisian veg salad too. La Crepe has excellent lunch choices - had the ham and cheese baguette and wanted to eat the whole counter of pastries. Today stopped for a sandwich at the Bagel deli - give that one a miss - stale sour dough bread with a scoop of egg salad and even although I asked for lettuce tomato and mayo, it came dry with a slice of tomato and a half a lettuce leaf on the side. My partner had a tasteless tuna salad on whole wheat. Waste of time and money - $20 included one latte - at least that was good. Its sad when a sandwich is badly prepared -my partner's Aunt Tootsie always made sure that the mayo covered all corners of the bread and that the tomato had a light dusting of salt and pepper before being laid on the filling.
