Palm Lobster Promotion

This is a fantastic deal and apparantly they do it every August (time's running out). For $75 you get 5 pounds of lobster (it's billed as a 5 pounder but it seems that they've run out of these jumbos so each time we've gotten two 2-1/2 pounders), two salads (either Caesar or a mixed green with choice of dressing), any two side dishes and 2 coffees. The portions are regular-sized. Their lobster now is selling for $22 per pound, the caesars are $8, mixed green is $7, the side dishes around $6-8. So, for $75 you get about $140 worth of food. Good for lunch or dinner until 8/31. We've been going to the downtown LA branch. Twice we've gotten the bugs steamed but last night their steamer was broken so we were forced to get broiled. The gubernatorial candidate who pledges to outlaw broiled lobster will get my vote. The steamed have had so much more lobster flavor and the little legs and tommaly don't get incinerated. For sides we've chosen the french fried onions, wonderfully crunchy and oniony, and delicious cold the next morning. The hash browns have a great brown crispy crust but need seasoning. We'll try the leftovers with diced onions and peppers for breakfast. The blue cheese dressing is tangy and creamy with many large chunks of cheese. We've been disappointed with the caesar as the romaine is crisp but the dressing lacks punch. IMO a tremendous bargain and downtown isn't nearly as frenetic as west Hollywood.
