I have an interesting question to pose to you all, why is everyone raving about the Paleo diet?
I recently wrote a blog post about Paleo principles - see link, and have started to become quite the advocate (to SOME of the principles)!
To follow the Paleo diet you should be looking to only eat vegetables, meats, fish, fruit, nuts (except peanuts ), seeds and some fats. All grains should be removed from your diet, so nothing made with flour, rice, pasta, lentils, breads - as well as beans, soy, dairy, all refined sugars and vegetable oils high in omega-6.
In all honesty this sounds like cutting out most of my diet already! (and pretty much all the things I love to cook...)
I do agree however with the diets promotion of eating organic and local and free range. However the rules on consuming coffee, chocolate, alcohol and caffeinated tea in moderation... well.. let us say no more on that matter!
I'm in full support of cutting out highly processed and modified foods, and doing so can never be a bad thing, but how realistic is it to stick 100% to a Paleo diet? Is there anyone here who sticks to the principles? If so what are your best dishes?
Really interested to hear everyone's dishes and thoughts :)
