We've all heard about paleo-this and paleo-that but how many have actually eaten it?

And believe it or not there's actually a paleo-cafe in old Tinseltown now!

So I shuffled in yesterday- the cockles of my hard little heart warming just a little upon seeing the 70's era hand lettered signs nothing like a blast from the past 40 years ago or 400,000 years ago it's all good.

Having perused the menu online I knew to order the veggie Burrito- amid the shouting and chaos of what I assume was a paleo-lineup.

Proceeding to the cashier I made my first mistake-I was suppose to wait for my Paleo-Burrito to be created/built before paying-this entailed inserting myself back into the bedlam that passes for a lineup that had somehow grown exponentially when I turned my back however the cashier was eager to make a good impression so she comped me my lunch!

I hope it wasn't because my being the oldest person in the place by an easy 30 years and thus that much closer to true paleo roots I prefer to think she did it because she's a nice person.

So I waited and eventually rec'd my monster Burrito and a well made creation it was-finally exhaling I slipped into a chair in the dark even cavernous feeding area but just as I raised my lunch to my lips came a cry from the front 'Don't eat that Burrito-you got the wrong one'!

In fairness they all look more or less the same although there is some undecipherable (possibly preliterate) system in place.

So I waited for a while and once again served my by now badly needed lunch and a fine lunch it was not in any way exceptional but the cold rice, the limp veggies, the sort of melted Cheese, and ancient looking 'bread' all reminded me of squatting in the sun outside my cave when I first moved to Kitsilano back in the 70's.

OK well not really but the price was right- I think I'll have Paleo-Pizza next time.
