I don't want to get into an argument over the value (or lack thereof) of Zagat, but I found the piece on the Zagat NY review interesting in the NY Post's "Page Six" today.

Here is an excerpt, with a link below that should work at least for today:

November 6, 2003 -- THE wildly popular Zagat Survey is under fire from riled restaurateurs who say the ratings are unfair and inaccurate.

Andrew Silverman, owner of City Crab and City Lobster...."There really is no merit to Zagat's," Silverman fumes. "Every year is the same [bleep]. For them to give me a 17 is ridiculous. The bottom line is, we have very busy restaurants and people love us . . . [Publisher] Tim Zagat is an elitist. I commend him on his efforts as a publisher, but as far as the content, it doesn't mean a thing to real people who know what's going on."
