My girlfriend and I ate at Padre Figlio on 44th last night. Just wanted to plug that it was absolutely fantastic. I noticed the only thread here had people going but no one really reporting back. It was a very nice atmosphere, attentive service (maybe too attentive), large menu, and best of all great, great food.
We were there pretty early (had to catch a train at 8) so maybe that's why the service was a bit over the top as there were not many people there yet. By over the top, we had about 4 different waiters serving us at various times not including the owner, who personally divulged the specials, gave his recs, and made sure we were happy. As such, there seemed to be a little disconnect with us asking one waiter for something, him going off to get it, and then another waiter coming and asking if we needed anything. One time, the first waiter never returned, so waiter #2 came along to finish what waiter #1 had started- Could've been annoying, but was not a huge issue. We never felt rushed or anything.
Either way the food was great. My GF had the Chilean Sea Bass which she remarked was the best shes ever had and she's had it all over the world. I had a pasta special with homemade pasta, pancetta, filet mignon, and shaved ricotta. Just fantastic. My GF's cheesecake was also outstanding and I had a very taste Bocce Ball. All in all a very cool spot that we will return to.
