Paczkis in MSP?

greghoffman | Feb 24, 2010 08:31 PM

I know it's a little late for this year - Paczki day was last Tuesday - but is there a place in the MSP area that sells paczkis? I used to live in the Chicago area, and they'd pop up in every grocery store/bakery right before Lent, but I haven't seen them since I've been up here. It's probably a good thing, since they may be the single worst-for-you pastry around - like a deep-fried jelly/custard-filled doughnut with a few extra layers of glaze/sugar on it - a Polish/Eastern European tradition for Shrove Tuesday, at least in the Chicago area.

I got kind of excited, since the Rainbow ad had paczkis, so I stopped in on Fat Tuesday to look at them. As far as I can tell, they had just made up a separate batch of the same jelly doughnuts they always had and labeled them paczkis.

So, any bakeries that have these around here?
