Just wanted to post a note about Paczki (pronounced punch-key), which are stuffed doughnut-like pastries sold on Fat Tuesday, mostly by bakeries located near concentrations of Polish patrons. I get mine from Mendokers in Jamestown, NJ. Theirs are deep-fried, overstuffed hunks of love that I've yet to find better. The Eagle Bakery in Trenton also sells them, but they are no where near as good. I am curious, are they sold elsewhere in the Philadelphia area? Does anyone have a cherished source? A church lady perhaps? Do tell.
