Pacifica Update - Spring 2014

pamf | Jun 15, 201406:05 PM     5

Since restaurant choices seem to be pretty limited in Pacifica, it's always great to have a few new options. So I thought I would report on some new places.

The first one is not a restaurant, but a small specialty purveyor of seafood, meat and poultry. Stuckey's Sustainable has been open about a month. It's a small shop and their stock may vary, but we have tried some wild-caught gulf shrimp and Half Moon Bay spot prawns. The shrimp were great, we had a texture problem with the spot prawns, they seemed a bit mushy, but that might have been our cooking error. Both items were grilled in a similar fashion. Stuckey's is a little hard to find, it's on Francisco Blvd. which is the frontage road on the west side of Highway 1. They are just a couple of blocks north of the golf course.

Dinosaurs 3 has been open for a few months, they are in the Eureka Square shopping center. Looks like they are doing the same menu as their other locations in SF. I am not a bahn mi expert, but the food was fresh and tasty. They have some vegan choices. It's very casual and probably best for takeout.

The Beach Monkey Cafe is located in the Adobe shopping plaza about a mile inland from Linda Mar Beach and the big Safeway mall. They have the usual coffee and pastries in the morning and a small menu of sandwiches and salads that are served at lunch and dinner. I enjoyed their (not particularly traditional, but good) Cuban sandwich and spicy chipotle Caesar salad.

It has cozy cafe interior and a couple of outdoor tables, (nice if I happen to have the dog with me). They serve beer and wine.

The Breakers opened recently serving breakfast and lunch at Rockaway Beach. I haven't tried it yet. They seem to have all the standard menu choices for breakfast, sandwiches and burgers. Should be a popular place for those who come down to enjoy the beaches.

Not new, but the Surf Spot and Puerto 27 are still regular stops. Surf Spot has Taco Tuesday which is a good deal and the daily happy hour at Puerto 27 is a good deal too.

Coming soon: signs are up in the Pedro Point mall (next to Fresh & Easy) for Devil's Slide Taproom. Not a lot of info yet, but apparently they will be serving local Norcal beer, wine and some food.
