Slightly off topic, but thought I'd post here since it is a quick hop from Queens.

The Oyster Fest is being held Saturday and Sunday in Oyster Bay,LI. They have raw and fried oysters, oyster stew, seafood stews as well as standard fest food (sausage and peppers, zeppoli, grilled corn etc).

There is also an oyster eating and shucking contest on Saturday (3-4 I think). You can get to town by taking the LIRR from Woodside to Oyster Bay, everything in town is within walking distance. A variety of tall ships will be in the harbor and they also have crafty vendors.

The oysters, oyster stew (when available) and fried chicken are usually great. The LIRR site has a ink to the festival go to promotions/packages and click on oyster festival.

(I'm not affiliated with the fest but I grew up in Oyster Bay and make the trip back from Astoria every year. My favorite was the year we had a torrential downpour - no lines for the oysters!)
