For ten bucks, the oyster stew appetizer on the Winter menu at Mendocino makes an astonishing, stupendous, and amazing lunch or light supper. I thought I was in heaven, that is until I tasted their chestnut-celery root soup, which has a sour aftertaste that kills any chestnut flavor.
Please, can anyone out there verify that their oyster stew is one of the best things you can possibly eat? If you are at all tempted by this dish, I hope you will go and check it out and report back. Tell me if I'm crazy.
