301 W. Valley Bl., #110 will forever live in history for the midnight fight between the then mayor of San Gabriel and his mistress, which started with the dumpling throwing spat, spilling out into the parking lot and ultimately the streets of San Gabriel. New Taste Dumpling House subsequently became Shang Ming, and now is home to Ox House, which now serves, well I don't know what. That's in part due to menu listings such as pried pork chops, house lame mixed soup, prok ribs, chicked rack in cumin, wax gourd into balls, different fish, muddy flesh, lellyfish and an entire section labelled "begetables" . Of course Ox House connotes beef dishes, and there are quite a few (including "ox manypiles"), and a section of "Northern" favorites would probably make calling this a Northern beef restaurant a safe bet. But dishes like Dalian Croaker, pine nuts with corn, and bullfrog hotpot do outnumber the beef dishes, and in fact most people appeared to be ordering some kind of oversized soup dish. Oh, and Ox House does continue to serve Shang Ming's double sized pan fried beef dumplings (along with beef soup dumplings, beef premium dumplings and beef fried buns). And lastly Ox House continues to cater to late night shenanigans, opening until 4am.
