Outstanding Bread for Sandwiches

Frank_Santa_Monica | Sep 12, 2006 12:13 AM

I have to make sandwiches this weekend, and won't be able to buy bread from Village Bakery in Costa Mesa as I live in LA. I love the way Village Bakery makes their Brioche Loaf. Their brioche is fantastic especially when you use it for grilled cheese sandwiches fried in French Butter a la Thomas Keller.

I've not tried anyplace else. Does that French bakery on Pico sell loaves of bread? I doubt it. I don't mind paying a premium for bread, because I'll be reimbursed! The brioche loaf at Village is $6, by the way.

What about Vienna Pastry, Amandine or Pain du Monde in Santa Monica? Those places good? I don't really like the bread from WFM or Bristol.

Suggestions, SVP? Thank you.
