After a somewhat failed attempt last winter to get dinner at GoGo on Irving I had backed away from my aim of venturing beyond the safety of kung pao chicken and mongolian beef. Walking through the outer sunset this afternoon this goal was renewed and so I'm asking for some advice. First off, where should I start? I tend to favor fresh bold flavors and things that aren't too greasy, other than that I'm not sure what regional Chinese cuisine I prefer. The second (and perhaps more important) question is, how to order a proper meal? I often find that we end up with several things that all taste the same or an odd combination of dishes that don't really form a balanced meal. I think this results from each person picking a dish and then sharing rather than thinking through the combination. Its also often just my husband and I out to dinner so I need to figure out how to do this without having to order too many plates. Many thanks to anyone willing to walk me through this.
