First time at Otto Saturday.
Special pork appetizer (can't remember the name) was delicious. Four pork sausage medallions served over lentils. Had a cassoulet-like quality.
The brussels sprouts marinated in balsamic were also quite good. Our waiter recommended them, and they didn't disappoint.
The calamari antipasto was good but not great. Probably would have tasted better in the summer.
The pizza was the biggest letdown. We split a special sausage and roasted pepper pie. I thought the crust was very bland and unmemorable. Needed salt.
Pasta carbonara was a different but outstanding rendition. Very peppery--like cacio e pepe almost--and with chunks of meat. Yum.
Finally, we closed out with a dessert of olive oil gelato with blood orange and pomegranate seeds. Superb. Next time we're going to try the black-and-white dessert, but I'm also tempted to order the gelato on its own.
With tip, $70 for the two of us. Otto didn't reach the heights of Babbo, but it was very good.
