so i went to oriental garden on elizabeth yesterday for dinner.
second time i've been there and first time i went went without my chinese friend.
everything was absolutely delicious but the only problem was that most of the things were market price. it seemed like the waiter (who was very genteel and attempted to be helpful but didn't speak english that well) could have just made up the prices. first we wanted geoduck and the king crab but the geoduck was 35 a pound the and the king crab was 60 a pound and 8 pounds large. Needless to say, that was too much crab.
Amongst the five of us, we had
scallop dumplings. (3)
snowpea and shrimp dumplings (3)
cold jellyfish with sesame chicken
one canandian crab (kind of like king crab but not) battered and fried in garlic sauce.
whole grouper steamed with ginger (2.5lb)
razor clams with black bean sauce (one order)
soy sauce fried whole chicken.
one veggie medly (w/bok choi, chinese broccoli, lotus roots)
7 beers and one diet coke.
before tip we paid approximately $220. does that sound right?
the grouper was close to $40 i remember and the crab was similar in price.
even if i did overpay, the meal was absolutely delicious and i would do it again in a heart beat.
just curious tho. thanks.
