I was looking for a Chinese place in Monterey Park and I've chosen 888. So thanks for the feedback. Seems like it should please everyone, even me.
I've scoured the archives and haven't come up with many specific recommendations for courses however. Most people just seem to like 888 for dim sum.
Chowhounds recommended the 24 hour cooked herbal soups-black bone chicken or turtle. Whats that like exactly, why should I order individual servings, is it really only written in Chinese on the menu? How do I make the waiter understand, do you have something I can say.
The $40 winter melon soup was recommended as a great party dish. Whats that like and do I really need to order it in advance?
J. Gold recommends the Chiu Chow cold plate, fish noodles, roast chicken, and the braised goose. I love goose.
