Orchid - short review

eeee | Mar 27, 2005 11:44 AM

Yesterday I went to Orchid, a Caribbean restaurant on 46th and 9th. It's a pretty bare-bones operation - maybe eight tables, one guy working the place. The food, however, is very tasty and very reasonably priced. I had a curry shrimp roti that was delicious, and sampled some curry goat that was some of the better goat I've had - not stringy like it can be. Had lemonade - a bit sweet for my tastes. The restaurant also serves ginger beer and something called peanut punch (?). Wish I'd had room for the sweet potato pie. Orchid is BYOB and there is a wine store right next door. Dinner for four came to a mere $52 before tip.
