Onion ring heaven

Joan Kureczka | Oct 21, 2003 05:04 PM

Thanks to the Hounds who recommended Doyle's as a stop for our weekend trip to Boston. My beer geek husband was very impressed, and as I enjoy these historic venues, so was I. We quite liked the Ipswich ale in particular of the beers we sampled, and the bartender gifted us with a couple of t-shirts when we left.

We laughed when we noted the menu describing their onion rings as "hand-crafted" and took that as a challenge and ordered them. They truly were onion ring heaven -- greaseless and crisp, with a thin, crunchy batter. I haven't had onion rings so good since I was a kid in the Buffalo suburbs.
