Ohana - Oh Boy! - Studio City

Hugh Lipton | Aug 31, 200511:36 PM

Noticed a new place in a strip mall at 11269 Ventura Blvd. (across the street from Nozawa) called Ohana BBQ. Holds itself out as Hawaiian - Korean.
Wonderful. Wanting to eat light I ordered the BBQ Chicken Hawaiian style. Well let's just say I have enough left over for lunch tomorrow, all at the whopping price of $7.25. My daughter had the Diamond Head Bowl of BBQ chicken served over rice with a teriyaki sauce. Also a good sized portion for $5.25. My wife ordered the Ohana "supah" salad with the BBQ chicken and also couldn't finish. What were we thinking? How did we all end up with chicken and wind up passing on the Beef short ribs at $9.50 or the pork spare ribs at $8.75. Oh well there's always next time.
Also started with the pot stickers which were light and crispy with a nice sesame teriyaki type sauce.
The kim chee was as good as I've had in Koreatown.
Shin, one of the owners of this family run outfit is delightfully pleasant and informative.
This is a must try.
Total price before tip was $30.00 for the three of us. Bargain City for great food!!!!!
