Offbeat restaurant gift certificate for wedding present?

Hansel | Nov 12, 2009 03:02 PM

Can anyone recommend a romantic, charming, maybe offbeat restaurant that I could get a gift certificate for to give as a wedding present? The couple have lived in Manhattan for years, so I'm not looking for the kind of places tourists might go to, nor am I looking for any of the big name, big chef places that get so much attention. I know they may be great, but that's not the vibe I'm looking for for this cool couple. (But they're not kids, they're a grown up couple.) I'd say I'm looking for a place that two people could get a nice meal for up to $200. Downtown would be good, but I'm open. (I know this is the Manhattan board, but if someone suggested something in Brooklyn I'd consider that, too.) (I know, I know, I'm not supposed to ask about Brooklyn on the Manhattan Board.)

I haven't lived in NY in years, so I'm totally out of it. Any recommendations greatly appreciated! (and hey, maybe I'll check them out myself on my next visit.)
