Had a killer Paella at O'Fado last night after a day of fishing (didn't catch anything big enough to be legal).
The paella was a bit salty, but really excellent. Whole lobster, smokey sausage, chicken, clams, mussels, shrimp, everything you would expect. Yum.
Sad news though, the bartender, who had been working there for 22 years said that due to their continued lack of traffic the owner is probably going to rent the whole place out to some Albanians to use as a social club.
The bartender said that back in the day the place was always jammed, but not so in recent years. We all wondered how they managed.
Even met the chef who shared an omelet at the bar with the bartender. 67 year old chef looked 45. He was making fairly suggestive comments (in portugese) and gestures to a young scantily clad local woman at the bar. The bartender told me that the chef was the worst dawg he had ever known, even at age 67.
He also mentioned that there might be another portuguese restaurant opening near by and that the chef might actually go work there.
O'Fado is a real gem. Get there while you still can!
