Ocean Pizza in San Francisco: Local Joint Worth a Try

In the Sunset we recently chanced upon a pizzeria named Ocean Pizza. The place looks like it's been around awhile, as evidenced by the link below.

Inspired by a recent viewing of the ABC Family movie "Pizza My Heart", I was on the prowl for an old-fashioned family-run pizza joint with that home-made taste. Though it was lunchtime, we found ourselves alone in the place, although the delivery man seemed to be bustling in and out.

We ordered a small Canadian Bacon, which looked more like a medium-size than a small. The pie was large enough for us to take home a slice. The crust was remarkable. In a way, it tasted more like an amazing piece of home-made bread; crispy and substantial, and filled with soft, delicious dough. The crusts alone would make a satisfying snack. The cheese was bountiful, with a mellow taste. Not too much sauce or bacon, but I didn't care anyway. We accompanied our pizza with a greek salad large enough for two or three people. We took that home, too. The salad was festooned with ripe, red roma tomatoes that burst with flavor.

Such a simple meal, but I felt well-fed and at home. I'm very happy to have discovered this spot and will return. Glad we didn't eat at the mall!
